De Stijl was an avant-garde dutch art movement created in 1917 later called neoplasticism. De Stijl's english translation is "the style". The Style's body of work was largely created by Piet Mondrian (Artist), Theo van Doesburg (Artist) & Gerrit Rietveld (Designer & Architect) et alDe Stijl is considered abstract and uses visual reduction, asymmetric shapes and the original artworks always came unframed as they were (considered by the artist) an extension of our world. De Stijl was a movement which influenced art, design and architecture. De Stijl's creative aesthetic is based upon straight lines, squares, rectangles and primary colours. Basic geometric shapes were used commonly. Its proponents believed much of the physical world was overly complex and deceptive. The artists and designers sought to simplify the (complex) world into its most basic forms and colours (through art & design) that represent the true nature of it. Our De Stijl print can be hung multiple ways. It's designed centered yellow square and simplified geometric design enable it to remain visually balanced in any of the four hanging positions.
